What is Introduction Data Modelling

You are aware that data modeling is a skill that not only a database administrator possesses. You think that standardization is a term to signify the end of the cold war or you have never made an ERD that is understood by others!

In all these cases this training is suitable for you. The organization for which you work benefits from the modeling skills you learn and the use of DAMA-DMBOK in which data modeling is defined as one of the (core) task areas.

After completing this training you will have knowledge of:

  • The differences between the conceptual, logical and physical data model
  • The reasons for which you use data models
  • Assessing data models (3NF)
  • Making a (logical / ERD diagrams) data model (via assignments)
  • The importance of data analysis for good (er) modeling
  • The importance of meta data and recording of meta data (data dictionary)
  • BI models (star diagram)
  • Modeling within DAMA

  • The concepts of data modeling

In addition, the participant has insight into the differences between the conceptual (business data), the logical (operational) and the physical (physical) data model. The participant is able to: apply the right model at the right time use different schematic techniques (ERD, UML) apply the principles of standardization use all possible sources of data to communicate with all involved
