What is Kubernetes Foundation
Kubernetes is an open-source container-orchestration system for automating computer application deployment, scaling, and management. It was originally designed by Google and is now maintained by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. It aims to provide a “platform for automating deployment, scaling, and operations of application containers across clusters of hosts”. It works with a range of container tools, including Docker. Many cloud services offer a Kubernetes-based platform or infrastructure as a service (PaaS or IaaS) on which Kubernetes can be deployed as a platform-providing service. Take for example AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) or EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service).
Kubernetes gives you the ability to have a completely virtualized environment where you can orchestrate everything that you could want for your microservice applications. It is thé answer to problems related to environments that need to be configured each time and separate operating systems that need to be installed and managed. It improves the agility of your projects greatly.

Who should attend Kubernetes Foundation
Kubernetes is getting more important and widely used. Do you hear so much about Kubernetes as well and do you want to get into it? During this training, you’ll have hands-on experience with it and make the first steps towards certification!
Prerequisites
Basic experience with a terminal and with Docker.
Objectives
After this training, you’ll be able to:
- describe the basics of Kubernetes
- deploy simple apps with Docker and Kubernetes
- run containers in Kubernetes
- deploy managed pods
- allow clients to communicate with pods
- connect disk storage to containers
- configure applications
Besides the skills described above, the training is also a good prep for CKAD. Self-study is required for this.
Classroom, online, blended and in-company
At Capgemini Academy you learn in the way that suits you. Do you prefer classroom training, online or a combination of the two (blended)? You can follow most training courses in-company: within your own organization. We use a variety of tools to make learning even more fun and effective. Consider videos, games, quizzes, webinars and case studies, for example. And you can always contact your trainer with any questions.
In-company training courses
With an in-company training you have several advantages:
