What is Java Basics
This training covers the basic syntax of Java in which, among other items, data types, methods, loops and classes are discussed. This training assumes no prior knowledge of programming languages, making the training accessible to anyone. Prior to the start of training you will receive a link to the learning environment. Here you will find the training materials available to you.
After this training you will be able to understand simple Java code, and you can write small pieces of it. This is done not only by the theory that you’re handed; but also, by the practical exercises that you perform with the object-oriented language Java and the IntelliJ integrated development environment.
Assignments during the training are done on your own laptop. This requires the necessary software to be installed on your laptop, which will be done as a group on day one of the training.
Who should attend Java Basics
Everyone who has anything to do with Java in his/her daily work. The training is mainly aimed at testers who have to deal with test automation where Java is required. Participants are expected to have some practical experience and insight into system development.
This training is not a certification training. This training serves to identify basic skills in Java code and small pieces of java in order to use it at a later time (in for example Selenium). This training pays little attention to test automation tools like Selenium. If you’re just looking for the use of Java in Selenium, take a look at our Selenium Cucumber Training.
Prerequisites
Programming knowledge is not expected from the participants. This training uses the following software: JDK 7+ and Eclipse (or IntelliJ). During this training you need a laptop on which you can install software.
Objectives
At the end of this training you are familiar with the syntax and structure of the Java language and you have become acquainted with a number of terms that developers use. You also have a number of hand-on assignments written and changed Java programs themselves.
